Basilikum vs. Melissa

No joke, i have bought ca. 20 Basil plants within the last year. Basil does not like me, but i love it...and especially in my killer-pasta dish. My miracle green thumb seems to only work on orchids and rosemary. No matter what i do they start to die within 24 hours. Any suggestions ?

Honey is a Lip-Saver !

This winter my lips have been extremely chapped. I never had this problem, and tried everything from exfoliation, lip balm, etc. Nothing was helping until an old lady told me to put honey on my lips before i go to bed at night. Voila ! My lips are back to new ! And not only that, my boyfriend really likes giving me goodnight kisses.

Lauren

My best friend lives in Miami with her witty husband and 3 dogs. While we are suffering the harsh winter in Munich, they are enjoying the warm winter breezes of Miami by taking walks on the beach, and going to places such as the Fruit&Spice Park. We are jealous because we cant even step foot out of the house without our ears falling off from freezing, its that cold. -13 degrees Celsius to be exact. We've been friends for years, and just love the fact that we can talk as if we saw each other just yesterday. We havent seen each other in a year. I have to visit her this December. New Years in Miami with loved ones sounds fun and toasty. So, theres another trip on the list of trips ! P.S. The frog is for you lauren. And you better read the instructions and use it.

The Carpet

My apartment is very white. White couch, white chairs, white bed, white sheets, white curtains. I like white because it looks clean and angelic. I admit, we do need a little bit more colour. So, im looking into colourful carpets like this one. Theres a place in Istanbul that have really nice original Anatolian "Kilims". Every carpet has a history and the owner can tell you its story. Green Card

I cant stand Andy McDowell, but the movie was brilliant and Gérard Depardieu makes me laugh every time. I downloaded the soundtrack on itunes today. Its kind of cheesy but great background music while cooking.

Golden Retriever

To all of you who have been helping me try to figure out what kind of dog to get. I've finally, yes,finally...no really...decided. I just need a bigger place and the right time. A white golden retriever it is. No small dog for me, thanks !

Blumen

This is the only place where i get flowers in Munich. They are reasonably priced, last long, and they are surprisingly friendly. And its only 2min. away from home.

Istanbul

I have truly become a fan of Istanbul, and not just because my boyfriend happens to be turkish.
Although, he did introduce me to the city of carpets and chai tea. If you have not yet been, i seriously recommend it.

There are so many wonderful cafés, shops, and things to do in istanbul. But its a crazy city. Similar to the hussle and bussle of New York but the same landscape as San francisco.

Sleeping is Very Important

im sleepy, im always sleepy. so i decided to take vitamins to fight my sleepyness. im afraid i will turn into my mother and mothers mother. I would have to change my blood in order to solve the problem. I actually dont think its a problem. But some others i know do. I love sleeping. If i get at least 10 hours of sleep, my day turns out perfect. That is why sleeping is very important...to me.

Getting carried away? nah...

I booked in one day flights to Paris and Ibiza for me and my loved one.
Just the thought of flying somewhere else some day soon, makes the winter months go by a little faster. I know Ibiza is a party place, but we are really only going to relax, soak up some sun(with the added sunscreen, of course), eat as much fish as we desire with a light dose of Sangria. I'm ready...and i think Levi is as well, we've never been. 6 more months to go.

I've been to Paris many times, and twice alone. Let me tell you, riding the train from Germany to France is not boring, especially when you're alone and only 18. I've never met so many strangers within an 8 hour train ride who were willing to show me Paris. Mostly all men, naturally. One of them was even a police officer from Paris, which made me feel a little more rest assured that he wasnt an axe murderer. I'm drifting away from the topic. Anyway, i love Paris. I have no problem with the french people because i have only met nice french people. My boyfriend has never been there, so i decided he has to go....with me. We are flying. 4 more months to go.

Brigitte Disappointment

Unfortunately, she has gone from being a sex bombshell to an evil "i hate humans" dog obsessing hexe. Meow.

The Reason

One night last week my mother asks me if i still write in my journal. I havent written in my journal since 2004. She suggested that i should start again. So i decided to dedicate this whole "Blog" page idea to my parents. Hence the titel, "DacostaMaka".
That is my fathers and mothers name in one. Actually, my mothers name is Monica. But when i was small and couldnt pronounce words like orange juice or mom or Monica...i always took the shortcut, and decided to just call her Maka. Which to me is prettier anyway. My fathers name is oh so exotic, especially for someone coming from the panhandel, redneck part of Florida. His father met some Portuguese dude with the name, and i guess he liked it.
